Hiking Bukhansan Mountain
Your self-guide to Bukhansan Mountain:
Hiking has always been a part of the Korean culture, yes most importantly among the older generations. It is their way of keeping fit which I honestly admire because the hike was not as easy as we thought it would be.
Making your way there
Wherever you're coming from, take the metro train to Dobongsan station (line 1) and head towards Exit 1.
Cross the road and follow local hikers to the park entrance.
Note: Grab some light snacks to bring up to munch on or you'll get hungry.
Start your day
The entrance of the mountain is quite a walk from the train station.
Once you reach the entrance, head to the Information Centre to get a trekking map.
*The map guides you through the whole park and the highlighted route is what we took.
Highlights
While you're making your way up the mountain, here are some snippets from there.
To get back to the city, just climb down the same way you came from or hike to another train station as shown in the trail map.
As for dinner, we were recommended to eat at this restaurant just down from where we came from that sells affordable and scrumptious noodles!
Word of advise, bring a good pair of hiking shoe and stick, makes life easier and definitely less achy the next day, which you can purchase it along the way to the entrance of the park. Perhaps relax at a jimjibang like we did too.
